Emily Maylin is an Irish landscape painter and illustrator living in London, England. Emily has a background in surface pattern design with a degree in Textile Design from Arts University Plymouth. After graduating in 2021 she now focuses mainly on a practice of painting and drawing.
Her work is heavily inspired by the abundance of natural landscapes she grew up surrounded by, having always felt a strong connection to it. Emily's work is less about recreating an image of the landscape and more capturing the feeling of a place through the forms, textures and colours.
Primarily working in gouache, pencil and pastel on paper her work is intuitive and expressive portraying the landscape through part memory, part imagination.
